  • 109A BUS SERVICE TO BE WITHDRAWN

Lifeline service to be stopped this month

Stagecoach have said that they are withdrawing the 109A bus service because it is "no longer sustainable". The news comes after new bus timetables sent out by Lancashire County Council indicated that the service would stop in July. Astley and Buckshaw Labour councillor Laura Lennox said "we are going to end up in the absurd situation where residents of Astley Village can get to Chorley on the bus at night, but not during the day."

Sir. Lindsay Hoyle MP echoes these concerns saying "over the years we have had to fight for a bus service in Euxton and Astley Village - I urge Stagecoach to review its decision immediately. In addition, I want the County Council, as our local transport authority, to do everything within its power to protect this important service and enter negotiations with Stagecoach to see how this service can be saved."
