Jeremy Corbyn's visit to Leyland
Young members saw the Labour leader on 16th April and took part in canvassing with fellow members from across the North West.
It was great to hear Jeremy Corbyn speak in Leyland the other day and to meet the candidates hoping to turn South Ribble red this May. Following this, Chorley members took part in door knocking with fellow young members from across the county to campaign for the upcoming local elections.
Kudos to Chorley's own Women's Officer for Lancashire!
Hannah was recently elected as Women's Officer for Lancashire Young Labour.
"My name is Hannah, I am 21 years old and I am a Politics undergraduate. So far at university, I have joined the Feminist Society, took part in pro-women marches and protests, and successfully campaigned to make the Student Guild adopt a pro-choice stance on abortion. I am so pleased to become the Women’s Officer for Lancashire Young Labour as I have such a strong passion for women’s rights and gender equality. In my role, I am hoping to encourage young women in Lancashire to engage more with both local and national politics, and also to ensure that young, female members are fully involved in the work of the local party."
Chorley CLP's Youth Officer added that, "When I was standing for Youth Officer, I pledged that I wanted to get our members represented at Lancashire and (hopefully soon) at North West level. I am so pleased that Hannah has taken up the baton not only for Chorley but for young women across our county."
